Love endures…

As I begin this new endeavor to journal my thoughts for all the world to see, I find it difficult to attempt to limit my writings to a single pattern or message. I am random at heart, and therefore my mind moves in waves. What you will see here will only be the waves that correlate to the time that I have to write. Each wave will be shaped and directed by the waves that came before, but at the same time be altogether unique in its movement. At this moment, my thoughts are on the greatest command given and the greatest emotion reflected through the obedience of that command.

For my joy…

I have a confession – I am writing this blog out of self-seeking desire. For this reason, much of what you find here will be written for personal application. This applies to both convictions and joys (which are not as separate as we think). I will readily admit that John Piper has done much in the way of steadying and refining my beliefs, and I think often on his central creed:

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.

From a tiny spark…

Luke 18:9-14

We are so skilled at pretending. Pretending to be nice, humble, loving, serving, when at heart we are fools, feasting on mud and singing praises for its fantastic flavor. Pessimistic, cranky men have at least forgotten this skill and no longer gloss over the truth.

This is my truth – I have tasted my first bite of steaming hot oatmeal and it is gloriously warming and new. I will no longer claim to have eaten the perfect t-bone and use a bite of oatmeal to describe its flavor.
